Project Updates

Mandeville, Louisiana
After updating the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Planning Works developed the B-3 area plan and implementing ordinances.  These form-based regulations eliminated repetitive losses during Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.  Subsequently, Planning Works developed a strategy for rapid implementation of an interdepartmental GIS.

 

Panama City Beach, Florida
After drafting form-based regulations for the City’s beach corridor, Planning Works has been working with City staff to develop a Unified Development Code to address development challenges in other neighborhoods.

 

Carroll County, Virginia
The County is poised to adopt a Comprehensive Plan this winter that lays the foundation for protecting agriculture and farms and promotes economic development along highway interchanges, balancing the needs of ‘no growth’ rural areas with ‘pro growth’ commercial centers.

 

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana
After completing the award-winning (for Public Participation) Vision Calcasieu Plan, to be adopted Spring 2011, Planning Works currently is working with staff to draft a Unified Development Code that implements Vision Calcasieu.

 

Jackson County, Missouri
Jackson County is preparing the public review draft of the 2010 Comprehensive Plan - Planning A Better Jackson County – for adoption hearings to begin late-fall.  Key issues that updated the 2004 Master Plan include transit, metro rail, intergovernmental coordination and regionalism.

 

Ocean Springs, Mississippi
Ocean Springs, after unanimously adopting the 2010 Comprehensive Plan this past spring is preparing a public review draft of the Unified Development Code, to be released in Spring 2011.  The UDC will coordinate and consolidate various special purpose ordinances and establish the foundation for form-based zoning in three distinct neighborhoods.

 

Santa Fe County, New Mexico
With the Plan adoption of both the Oil/Gas Plan Element and the Oil/Gas Ordinance in 2009, the County is poised to adopt the coordinated Sustainable Land Development Plan (SLDP) and the Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) in 2011.

 

Jefferson Parish, Louisiana
In September, 2010, the Parish Council unanimously adopted three mixed use development districts to facilitate redevelopment.  In addition to drafting the new urbanist form-based regulations, Planning Works continues to work with the Parish to implement the Fat City Strategic Development Plan and resolve other regulatory needs.

 

Bridgeton, Missouri
Planning Works is working with local stakeholders to assess the appropriateness for a Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Plan.

 

Gainesville, Florida
Planning Works continues to help the City with revisions to its Mixed Use District regulations and the implementation of Comprehensive Plan policies.  The direction set for development calls for increased reliance on form-based regulations.  Planning Works also is helping the City address accessory uses for religious institutions.

 

Huntersville, North Carolina
After drafting and updating the Town’s Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance, Planning Works is providing support to coordinate the APFO with the Budget and Capital Improvement Plan.

 

Lafayette County, Missouri
Planning Works continues to provide Staff support for a wide variety of issues, including development review, wineries and updates to the Land Development Regulations.
